Drake Passage off Argentina was struck with and earthquake of 6.3 magnitude on Sunday morning. According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale, struck about 220 miles (354 km) southeast of Ushuaia, the capital of the Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego. The earthquake’s epicenter was situated about 6 miles deep, making it a shallow earthquake.
The earthquake struck at 8 a.m. local time (1200 GMT). No tsunami warnings were issued by the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center. The earthquake caused no damage as it was quite far off from land.
